Are You Using The U.L.T.A. Technique?

We have all done it at some point in our lives. Maybe when we were new to makeup. Maybe last week. Unblended makeup and harsh lines happen, but they don't have to. Sometimes we put on our makeup in the morning,  think we look awesome, and walk out the door. Once in the car, we glance in the mirror, and that's when we see it.  The line where our bronzer meets the blush is prominent and uneven. That highlight that we thought we applied with such skill looks like a streak of glitter on our face. 

Luckily for you, I have a trick to help you achieve that flawless face of makeup that we all covet. 

I present you with The U.L.T.A. Technique! No, this isn't a gimmick invented by your local beauty retailer. It is an acronym I teach my clients to help them remember an easy way to keep things smooth and seamless. 

U.L.T.A. = Use Last Tool Applied

What does that mean? Let's say you apply your foundation with a beauty sponge. Next, you want to apply a cream blush, so you grab a small stippling brush and dab it onto your cheekbones. 

Here is where U.L.T.A. comes in! Instead of moving on to the next step in your makeup application, use the last tool that you applied the previous product with.  In this example, it is your beauty sponge. Since you used the sponge to apply your foundation, it will still have a little bit of product on it. Use that sponge to gently tap over the edges of your cream blush. The excess foundation from the sponge will help melt the product into your skin without any harsh edges in site!

So tomorrow morning when you are getting ready for work, as tempted as you may be to rush through your best five minute face, take a few extra seconds to try the U.L.T.A. Technique.  Trust me, you will be glad you did!
