Cruelty-Free Eye Cream

 Cruelty-Free Eye Cream

This may very well be my most requested post of all time. While makeup can be an investment, skincare items can be even more costly.  However, a good eye cream can really change the way your skin looks, and help create the perfect base for your makeup.

I've tested tons of eye creams over the years, and found tons that quite frankly did not do anything. After wasting a lot of money, and a lot of time, I've narrowed it down to four eye creams that I think are worth the money.

You do have to remember that with skincare, everyone's skin reacts differently, what works for me might not work for you so it's important to have realistic expectations and know what you want from the cream. None of these creams are going to stop or reverse time, but they can help reduce the appearance of aging, and supply some much needed moisture to the delicate eye area.

Here are my four favorite eye creams:

100% Pure Coffee Bean Caffeine Eye Cream
I've written about this specific eye cream in other blog posts. It's a favorite of mine, and one that I have used for years.  After some time, I noticed a reduction in my under eye circles.  This has a strong scent that is almost dessert like. I find it quite pleasant, but it may be overpowering to those sensitive to scents. This also has excellent depuffing properties and is packed with antioxidants. This product is 100% vegan.

Who should buy this?
Someone looking for an all around good eye cream.

Here is the ingredients list taken from www.100percentpure.com

Ingredients: Organic Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice1, Organic Rosa Centifolia Flower Water (Rose Hydrosol)2, Organic Rosa Canina (Rosehip Oil) Seed Extract3, Organic Coffea Arabica (Green Coffee) Seed Extract4, Vitamin E (Tocopherol), Vitamin C (Sodium Ascorbate), Extracts of: Coffea Arabica (Coffee Cherry) Seed, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf, Origanum Vulgare (Oregano) Leaf, Thymus Vulgaris (Thyme) Flower/Leaf, Hydrastis Canadensis (Goldenseal), Vanilla Planifolia (Vanilla Absolute) Fruit, Euphorbia Cerifera Cera (Candelilla Wax)

Cost: $19 for 1 oz.

100% Pure Organic Cucumber Eye Cream Gel
Although I love my Coffee Bean Caffeine Eye Cream, I also heard great things about this Cucumber Eye Cream Gel so decided to give it a try. I haven't been using this product as long, so I can't really attest to the long term benefits, but the product is certainly depuffing and soothing.  I really like this as a night time cream because it feels cool and comforting to my tired eyes after a long day. This does have a strong cucumber scent, but I find it pleasant.  This is a lighter texture than the Coffee Bean Caffeine Eye Cream, and is sort of a gel-cream hybrid in terms of texture. This product is 100% vegan.

Who should buy this?
Someone looking for a soothing and moisturizing under eye treatment.

Here is the ingredients list taken from www.100percentpure.com

Ingredients: Organic Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract (Aloe Juice)1, Organic Rosa Centifolia Flower Water (Rose Hydrosol)2, Cucumis Sativus Fruit (Cucumber) Juice, Persea Gratissima Oil (Avocado Butter), Organic Rosa Moschata (Rosehip) Seed Oil3, Tocopherol (Vitamin E), Ascorbyl Palmitate (Vitamin C), Extracts of Cucumis Sativus Fruit (Cucumber), Calendula Officinalis Flower (Calendula), Chrysanthemum (Chrysanthemum Coccineum Flower), Organic Camellia Sinensis Leaf (Green Tea)3, Matricaria Chamomilla Leaf (Chamomile), Glycyrrhiza Glabra (Licorice) Root and Lonicera Caprifolium (Japanese Honeysuckle), Euphorbia Cerifera (Candelilla) Wax, Hyaluronic Acid

Cost: $18 for 1 oz.

Tarte Maracuja C-brighter Eye Treatment

This high end eye cream has an instant brightening effect. I received a small sample of this before it was available and loved it. Now that it's being carried in stores and online, I just had to have the full size. I would say this is probably the most emollient of the eye creams I've listed. However, it is also the most costly.

Who should buy this?
This is for the person looking for a brightening effect from their eye cream.

Nuance By Salma Hayek AM/PM Anti-Aging Super Eye Treatment
I've also written about this eye treatment in a previous post. This is my pick for best drugstore eye cream. This is also a good pick for sensitive skin. I honestly did not notice a reduction in my dark circles with this product. However, I think this did the most to diminish the appearance of my fine lines.

Who should buy this?
Those concerned with fine lines and wrinkles.

Ingredients: Water, Butylene Glycol, Castor Isostearate Succinate, Glycerin, Dicaprylyl Carbonate, Stearic Acid, Dl-Methicone, PPG-12/SMDI Copolymer, Glyceryl Stearate, PEG-100 Stearate, Cetyl Alcohol, Phenoxyethanol, Cetearyl Olivate, Sorbitan Olivate, Tocopheryl Acetate, Triethanolamine Citrullus Vulgaris (Watermelon) Fruit Extract, Mimosa Tenuiflora Bark Extract, Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer, Passiflora Edulis Seed Oil, Lens Esculenta (Lentil) Fruit Extract, Pyrus Malus (Apple) Fruit Extract, Chlorphenesin, Tetrahexyldecyl Ascorbate, Oryza Sativa (Rice) Bran Oil, Ethylhexylglycerin, Retinyl Palmitate, Disodium EDTA, Sodium Lactate, Dipotassium Glycyrrhizate, Euterpe Oleracea Fruit Oil, Orbignya Oleifera Seed Oil, Sodium PCA, Palmitoyl Tripeptide-1.

Cost: $19.99 for 0.5 oz.

Application:

The best way that I've found to apply eye cream, is to gently pat a small amount around the eye area after cleansing the skin. I recommend patting, not rubbing it in, with your ring finger as this is your weakest finger and it won't create too much pressure in a delicate area.

What's your favorite cruelty-free eye cream? Any you think I should try?
