Brands are coming out with new brush shapes all the time. Some of them may be gimmicky, and some may become new staples in your collection.
The first brush I have chosen for this series is the Smith Cosmetics #220 Eyeshadow Finishing Brush.
This is what it looks like:
At first glance it may look like a large push liner brush. However it is actually intended to blend & buff eyeshadow. The bristles are made out of synthetic mongoose hair, making it soft, yet firm enough to polish an eye look.
I typically use it for more smokey looks. For example, when so am applying color close to the lash line, but I want the edges really blurred and blended, I use this brush in a back and forth motion. It is a nice alternative to a pencil brush when you want something to look a little undone or less precise.
This is a newer brush to my collection, so I may find more uses for it, but I find it very useful for smokey eyeshadow looks. This brush retails for $24 and is beautifully made. The length is about the same as a Real Techniques 305 Brush. It feels light, but seems to be made out of high quality materials. I have a feeling this is one of those brushes that will last for years in my kit.
